What Is Zerolog? Messaging That Leaves Nothing Behind

July 8, 2026 · 3 min read

Most messaging apps leave a trail. Conversations copied to servers, data quietly gathered in the background, records that sit somewhere for years. Zerolog was built on the opposite idea: when a conversation ends, nothing should be left behind.

Zerolog is a privacy-first, ephemeral, end-to-end encrypted messaging app for iOS (13 and up) and Android (6 and up). It was built in Türkiye, it is free, and it is available in both English and Turkish. Our tagline says it all: Whispers between devices. Nothing left behind.

What Makes Zerolog Different?

It helps not to think of Zerolog as just another messaging app. It rests on three core ideas, and when those three come together they create an experience you may not be used to.

It Works Without the Internet

Zerolog's most distinctive trait is that it needs no internet to talk to someone near you. Messages travel directly from device to device over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and the local network (Wi-Fi/LAN). Even with no cell signal, a downed Wi-Fi network, or no connection at all, you can keep talking to the people around you.

A crowded concert, an airplane, a campsite in the mountains, or a disaster where the grid has failed; Zerolog keeps working through all of them. For people who are far apart, end-to-end encrypted messaging over the internet takes over. You can read more about how this works on our how it works page.

Messages Destroy Themselves

In Zerolog, messages are not permanent. Every message has a time-to-live (TTL), and when that time is up, the message disappears. Nothing is archived, nothing accumulates. A conversation behaves like one in real life: it is spoken, it is heard, and it passes without leaving a record.

This is not only a privacy feature; it is a shift in mindset. When you know your words will not sit on a server forever, you speak more freely, more honestly, and more like a human being.

No Data Is Collected

Zerolog collects no advertising ID, asks for no location, does not read your contacts, gathers no analytics, and never sees your message content. Your phone number is used only for verification and is not stored. The permissions the app requests are kept to the bare minimum.

This approach is no accident; it is a design choice at the heart of our KVKK and GDPR compliance. Data that is never collected cannot be leaked, sold, or misused. You can read more about where we stand on the privacy page.

End-to-End Encryption

Every message in Zerolog is end-to-end encrypted. That means only the sender and the recipient can read it. Encryption keys stay on your device; servers never see message content. No party in between, neither us nor anyone else, can unlock what you say.

Designed Against Harassment

In Zerolog, a stranger cannot simply message you. Talking requires mutual approval first; no one can start a chat with you until you approve them. Block and report options are always within reach. This is an anti-harassment approach placed at the center of the design.

More Than Messaging

Zerolog has not forgotten about fun. There are 13 local multiplayer mini-games you can play offline with paired devices: tic-tac-toe, rock-paper-scissors, backgammon, chess, penalty kicks, basketball hoops, okey, battleship, snake duel, reaction tap duel, connect four, memory match, and tetris duel. You can browse them all on the games page.

You can also make device-to-device voice calls, and in an emergency you can wipe everything instantly with panic wipe.

Who Is Zerolog For?

Zerolog is for anyone who wants what they say to stay between them and the person they said it to. Journalists and their sources, professionals who discuss sensitive matters, everyday users who value their privacy, people who need to communicate where connectivity fails, and anyone who simply wants to shrink their digital footprint will find what they are looking for here.

The "Nothing Left Behind" Philosophy

Even the name carries the philosophy: zero log. The modern world wants us to record everything; every conversation, every tap, every moment is stored somewhere. Zerolog questions that. We believe some things are meant to be temporary, that a whisper heard and then gone is the most natural form of communication there is.

Zerolog is a reminder that digital silence is a right too. To get started, visit the download page, and explore our site to discover everything Zerolog can do. Talk, share, and leave no trace behind.
